Smoke Stop is a concealed, active smoke curtain containment system designed to descend at a safe speed either under power; or gravity in the event of a total power failure or cabling corruption. Even barriers hundreds of meters wide and up to 12 meters deep, cannot crash down and endanger occupants.

The roller is mounted and enclosed in a steel housing and the bottom edge of the curtain has a weighted bar. It is activated from a fire detection system and closes above head height (sometimes to the finished floor level) to create a smoke-free layer.

Delayed & split drop deployment controls offer safe escape as well as controls 'gravity failsafe' or auto retract, to fully addressable local or remote monitoring systems, enabling easy integration with a dedicated fire and smoke alarm system.

  • 'Gravity Failsafe' drive system allows curtains to safely descend under gravity at controlled speeds - even in the event of total power failure.
  • Fully adjustable speed controls
  • Inclusion of side containment channels (if required)
  • System synchronization and handshaking
  • A variety of ceiling interfaces including corners, curves and circular
  • 24V operation with battery backup

Curtain
The EFP 1/1000 is a composite material of satin weave fibreglass fabric consisting of a specially developed reflective aluminium enriched polymer with a silver polyurethane coating on both sides. Tested in accordance with BS EN12101-1 , BS EN1634-3 , BS 7346-3 & BS 476 Parts 6 & 7 .

Bottom Rail
A triangular section bottom rail is attached to the curtain to assist downwards movement; When in the stored position the smoke curtain's bottom bar creates a slimline soffit, with no visible fixings for a clean, uncluttered appearance.

Roller
The smoke curtain fabric winds onto a tubular 70mm, 80mm or 100mm barrel of mild steel tube of sufficient diameter and wall thickness to resist deflection - mounted on endplate bearings.

Casing
Casings are manufactured from galvanized steel and are available in a range of sizes to fit various opening heights and widths. The barrel and curtain assembly is housed within the casing, and may be soffit or face fixed to the structure - either directly or by means of drop rods allowing services to be routed above.

Finish
Guides, bottom rail and casings are supplied as standard in galvanized steel, and are also available polyester powder coated in a range of standard RAL colours at extra cost.
